Idag är vi stolta över att vara en del av Impalas fyråriga EU-projekt för att stärka de oberoende bolagens roll i Europa och stödja framväxten av nya föreningar likt SOM i delar av Europa där representationen är låg.

IMPALA säger:

The start of 2025 marks a new phase for IMPALA, the European association of independent music companies, as it rolls out a programme of work co-funded by the EU for the next four years.

Through this funding, IMPALA, which has over 6,000 members across 33 European markets, is being recognised as a European network representing a distinct and essential part of the music value chain, independent music production.

Helen Smith, IMPALA’s executive chair, commented: “It is a credit to our members’ work that IMPALA is being recognised in this way and we look forward to delivering the projects we’ve planned over the next four years as part of this grant. It will help us scale up our work and empower our members at a critical time for the sector, working across issues such as access to finance, streaming reform, industrial policy, sustainability, AI, EDI, as well as copyright and competition, to name a few”.

IMPALA chair Dario Draštata added: “The start of this four-year project is very timely, as we are also celebrating 25 years of IMPALA in 2025. As part of our EU network grant, we have many exciting projects coming up, from artist and label camps to climate clinics and our revamped awards. This is on top of our usual work being the voice of independent music companies in Europe, advocating for strong copyright, fair competition in the market and working to maximise commercial opportunities for our members”.

IMPALA president Francesca Trainini concludedThis programme provides key cultural networks with the opportunity to strengthen their network across Europe. One of our priorities is focusing on Central and Eastern Europe. It will also allow us to reinforce our strategic collaboration work with independent music businesses and organisations across the world through the WIN global network”.

About IMPALA

IMPALA was established in 2000 and now represents over 6000 independent music companies in Europe. 99% of Europe’s music companies are small, micro and medium businesses and self-releasing artists. Known as the independents, they are world leaders in terms of innovation and discovering new music and artists – they produce more than 80% of all new releases and account for 80% of the sector’s jobs. IMPALA’s mission is to grow the independent music sector sustainably, return more value to artists, promote diversity and entrepreneurship, improve political access, inspire change, and increase access to finance. IMPALA works on a range of key issues for its members and started a new co-funded work programme as an EU cultural network in 2025. IMPALA runs various award schemes and has a programme aimed at businesses who want to develop a strategic relationship with the European independent sector – Friends of IMPALA.
